Hi there - we've been embedding audio on one of the pages we've produced. Uploading the MP3 file uses by default that the "Janison JWPlayer Audio Control" . The control is working on most browsers, however not showing on IE8 and 9 with our client. I've trying to replace the control with the HTML5 <audio> tag which also causes problems with IE and doesn't show the controls when they try it (however it works on my PC when I emulate IE8 and 9 with the IE dev tools). What method of MP3 embedding would you recommend to support IE? Thanks

    Hi Uli,

From what I have read on the internet the JWPlayer audio is HTML 5 which explains why it is not showing up on IE 8 & 9. We tend to suggest that clients use more up to date browsers such as IE10+, Google Chrome & Mozilla Firefox. I found a thread on Stackoverflow which suggested adding preload="auto" to the source tag can sometimes get the audio working on IE9 but will not work on IE 8. Let me know how you go with this.
    Cheers, Michael

Hi Michael, yes - an updated browser would be the way to go... unfortunately that's not an option for some of our public sector users with a locked-down IT environment. The preload attribute needs to be in the audio tag from what I've read, so I've added it there <audio id="audioplayer" preload="auto" controls="controls" style="width: 300px;"> ... this seems to work when I try it with IE9. Will report back in case we need more. Uli
